Opinions, Pro Comp vs BFG's
Opinions, Pro Comp vs BFG's
I been thinking about getting new tires for too long now. I have a 99 ORP at stock height with the stock 17 inch wheels. I now have the Good Year junk. I been going back and forth between the 33 inch Pro Comp AT and the BFG AT. I know if I go with the 33 inch there is the differece with the speedo, but not a big issue. I also live in Wisconsin so snow is an issue as well.
I have asked numerous questions about tires in the past, but I keep changing my mind. I want a good all around tire that handles good, but will also look cool. So once again I turn to you guys to turn me in the right direction.
Thanks, Eric

Well, right now I'm running Pro-Comp Mud Terrains but I have several buddies who run BFG All-Terrains and love them. They do good on road and off road. I personally think the Pro-Comp All Terrains aren't as aggressive as the BFG's but that might just be me. You can't beat the Pro Comp buy 3 get one free deal though. I'm pretty much in the same dilemma as you right now because I'm looking to get new tires for my wife's Jeep and I've narrowed it down to the same 2 choices as you. Good luck

FFEric224,
Go with the ProComp AT's at $125/tire.
Got them on my 02 F250SD 4x4.
Or if you have the cash go with the BFG's at $198/tire.
Cant beat the price of the ProComp AT's
Here is a pic of mine.

I went for the bfg 285/70/17 M/T they are 33" tall and they are rated to go on the 7 1/2" stock rim the 33/12.50/17 pro comp's are not rated for a rim under 8" I think the new bfg design handels great, they work great on wet road for a mud tire I havent had them in any snow yet but they make the truck look like a truck should and I got a pretty good price at discout tire on them they will beat anyones price so check around
I have the 35" procomp mudterrains on my truck. They are on the stock wheels! I have about 8000 miles on them and so far so good. I really like the procomps and the price was good. They are great in the rain and of course off road. They lack a bit in the snow but that is typical for a mud tire.
I never drove an f150 with a bfg tire. However I have driven other trucks with bfgs and also liked them. I did notice that the bfg mudterrain tire makes a lot more road noise than the procomp mudterrain.
BTW, 4wheelparts did a test on the 33" procomp tires on the stock 7.5" rim and the outcome was that it will work fine. Whether or not they favored that outcome to sell more tires, I don't know. But so far I have not had a problem and there was no problem mounting this tire on my rim. And it looks great!

I am running the ProComp Mud terrains and love them. I would go with the ProComp AT because they offer a 50,000 mile warrenty.
