Now Im all Confused.....

Ok , Im now turning to al you truck gods out there form some help.
Im wanting to go with new rims and tires on my new Screw FX4 and im gettting several different answers from Tire stores.
Im was wanting to go with either 17x10 or 16x10 rims with 33x12.5 tires. However one palce says no problem fitting them because the truck sits up higher with the FX4 package. Then another says NO Way that with the 10 inch rim it will rub and ill have to do some cutting, and that ill have to stick with 8 inch rims to keep form having to cut and rub.
Does anyone have a better answer , or have had this done to there Truck.
Please help if you can....

DoubleEagle,

I have 16x8 wheels with 285's and am pretty sure that if you want to go with 10" wide rims and 33x12.5's your going to need a lift even with the Fx4 package. I had to raise my torsion bars and trim my front valance to get my 285's to fit.

Hope this helps, nice truck by the way like the color combo

I am running 285/75 BFGs on Eagle 16x10s. All I had to do was trim about a half inch of plastic off the front bumper's lower plastic valance. This took about 10 minutes with a pocket knife. It is not noticable at all. Just take your time and make a smooth cut.

Man thanks for the replys , i got another question, you both are running 285/75/16 ,is this tire bigger or about the size as a 33x12.5?

FireRig99 03-17-2002 08:10 PM

DoubleEagle,

The 285/75/16 is the same height as a 33x12.5 but a little more narrow its about 11.5 inches. The exact equiv to a 33x12.5 would be a 305/70/16.

I'm a little confused too...

If you look at this thread...... https://www.f150online.com/forums/sh...threadid=70464 you will see in socalcrew's sig that he has 33/12.5x17 Pro Comps on which appear to be the factory 10-Spoke rim. He has a link to his photo albumn and you can look at pictures of his truck. I posted a question to him asking if he did any other mods to fit hose tires..haven't seen any replies yet.

tfratzke,

That is strange have never seen 33x12.50 on stock wheels and truck with no trimming our any mods to the torsion bars.

16x9 with 33.12.50/16 Pro Comp M/T's. I don't think you can run much bigger than stock and not trim. Even after I lifted 6" I still had to trim slightly.

Hay Teamtrent,

I just wanted to know how you like the Pro Comp XTerrains ?
I was looking at them and was courious, do they ride good and not to loud?
They sure do look good and 4wheel parts has them for around $600 this month. Thats quite a deal..

Also thanks to all that have replyed to this post im still not fully sure of which to go with as far as a 16x10 and do al ittle triming or go with the 16x8 and be safe. But i would realy like for the tire to extend out from the truck atleast 3/4 "or so, and I dont see a 16x8 doing that.

Here was socalcrew's reply about me asking what mods he had to do to his screw to fit the 33/12.5x17 Pro Comps...

socalscrew: "The only mod I did was crank the front torsion bars, but that is not even needed to fit the tires. No trimming and absolutely no rubbing - and I have been through some pretty rough terrain. Because I stuck with the factory wheels the tires are still inside the fenderl but If you use a wider rim then I guess one would have to trim the fender or lift the truck. I have A/Ts and a friend of mine has the M/Ts also on the factory 7.5in x 17in rims and we have had no problems."

So it sounds like if you have a supercrew, you can fit these tires with absolutely no mods!
