Longest Lasting Tire: Goodyear, BFG, Micky T

Hey all-

What tire offers the longest lasting tread? I'm considering the Goodyear Wranglers, BFG Mud Terrain, or the Micky Tompson Baja Claw's.... I know I'll get alot of ProComp replies... but to be completely truthful- I don't like the way those tires look.

I have Goodyear Wranglers on my Jeep and have burned half the tread in about a year. Will the BFG and Baja do the same?

Thanks for the thoughts....

Brian

Wrangler MTR?

TO compare apples to apples, you have to look at all mud terrains. I have the MTR's and have put just over 13000 miles on them and they are wearing fairly well. I'd say they have well over half of the tread left. Now I also spin this tires on rocks and such while offroading.. Now when you say you've had your tires just over a year, how many miles is that? I put 13k on them in less than 5 months.... It's all a matter of perspective.. I would say stay away from the Mickey t's if you're worried about wear... When they do wear down, they are load as hell.

I doubt you'd be disappointed with a BFG, hard to find any people that are for that matter. I hate em because the're popular as all hell and everyone has them (I'm just sick of seein them, along with the BFG at's), but longevity is one of the reason's they've done so well on the market.

I ran BFG Long Trails on my 16's and they hardly wore after about 15,000 miles compared to Coopers which are all but worn out at 15,000--i had this happen on 2 sets of Coopers. These BFG's are a little pricey but they last a hellova lot longer. With the more aggresive tread on those other BFG's you are looking at they will probably wear more if you drive on pavement a lot.

i'm voting with klaibs on this one.
i have the mt/r's with over 15,000 on them. mine are showing wear, but still have lots of life in them. i'm shooting for 40,000 out of them. i got 43,000 out of my last set of bfg muds and these are wearing just as well as those.
if you want a great traction and road tire check out the mt/r. these are the best compromise tires i've ever owned.
my next set will be the same unless something weird happens. good luck, Rich.
