Can aluminum wheels be chromed?

I think it would be better if you just had your rims polished. Who wants to add weight to their wheels????

One of my friends had his aluminum rims chromed and after awhile the Chrome started to peel. I am not sure if it was the Chrome on Aluminum or if it was just not done very well.

Jd,

Virtually anyone will chrome your rims nowadays. The problem is, like you said, it won't last very long. Quality plating is usually done by companies that have been around since forever and are riding the grandfather clause in terms of Fed regulations. It seems that what looks nice will mean more destruction to the environment. Different companies will use different chemicals, therefore affecting the resulting looks.
