General Grabbers awful traction

I have a 2001 4X4 Sport XL with the General 255.70.16's. I live in WV and we just received 8 inches of snow. Even after plowing the roads, these tires suck pretty badly. I am thinking of Wildcat AT's 265.75.16's, but am afraid of the power loss with the V6 I have. Ah well, thats what a transfer case is for.

Hey Dave
Im in WV too. Im about 1 hr. away from you ,Logan County.
Can you believe this snow??? Anyway I had the General Grabber M/T's on my old truck they were great but id go a size bigger and maybe something in the name of a Bridgestone Dueler or a BFG and i dont think the bigger size would really affect the power!

Take a look at an earlier thread in this section about skinny vs fat tires in snow/ice that was posted in the last week. Those folks said it pretty well.

I'm a skinny tire guy who gets to drive on snow/ice for about 7 mo/year. Not sure if I'd still be a skinny tire guy if I lived in your part of the world.

I also have BFG AT s and we had 8-10 in of snow the other day so I woke up early so I could go play. I gotta say these are the best tires I have ever had in the snow.My buddy has the stock goodyears and he was all over the place and I never had to touch 4x4.

I have the michelin xcx/apt, awsome tire in rain, mud, sand, and quite as hell on the street. I reccomend them. They are 265/75/16.

The Generals seem like they will not clean themselves out. But then again, they look like a total street tire. Does anybody have the V6, and if so, did the 265's destroy the acceleration? I can keep up with a buddy's new Chevy with the 4.8 5 speed, but he has 285's on his (3.73's front and rear) along with Flowmaster catback and a K&N. Mine is all stock right now. I want to be able to tow my Mustang on an open-wheel trailer to the dragstrip this summer and I will probably need all the help I can.
