Question I'm thinking about new tires

I've had my truck 3 months and I love it. Well, all but the tires. I have a 99 with the 17 inch rims. I saw a pick on Team Trents truck at stock height with 33 in tires and 16 inch rims. I'm usually a BFG fan but I been hearing alot of good things about the Pro Comps. I'm not sure which Pro Comps to go with. We get our share of rain and snow in Wisconsin so that could be a concern unless I just use the stock tires for winter. If I were to go with 33 inch rims, would this mess up my speedo? Is there a easy way to correct it? What do you guys think?

I have the 35" procomp mudterrains on the stock wheels, see my sig. I love them. They are extremely quite for a mudterrain tire. In fact they are almost as quiet as the original goodyear at/s. They are good in the rain, no spin out or hydroplane at all. Of course they are superb in offroad. I climbed a hill in 2wd that I couldn't get up in 4wd with the original tires. I haven't driven them much in the snow, so I can't comment much there. I have the 35s and yes it was a big difference in the speedo. You need to have in reprogrammed even for 33s or buy a superchip. I still haven't done this with my truck, I just make it a habit to go 5 mph under the speed limit all of the time.

Thanks for the info Kev. Your truck looks great. Would I need a lift if I went with 33 inch tires? And with the speedo problem, what does a superchip change? Eric

Yes 33s will fit without a lift. Do a search on that subjet, several people have pics of their rides with no lifts and 33s. I'm not sure how the superchip corrects the speedo exactly. Don't know if you just program the difference in when you purchase the chip or not. Try checking out the electrical boards, there is a guy on here who is a distrubuter of the superchips and will answer any questions you have. I have to do some research on them as well, but just have been too busy this winter to worry about it.

good luck,
kev
