Ok, one of the local tire shops has informed me that if i go with a 16x10 inch wheel I will have vibration problems! I was planning on going with a 16x10 in rim, but would like to know if this is true! I figure if you can balance any size tire right you willl not have a problem with vibrations or any other type of wobbleing and such! But according to them, a 16x10 inch wheel on a 1998 f150 xlt extended will have problems! What do you guys think?

Sounds like BS to me. I've had 16x10 Eagles for around 4 months and have not had any problems. A lot of people on this site and F-150 World have them and I have not heard any complaints. As a matter of fact doesn't the Lightning come stock with 18x10s ( 18x9.5?). Also, I notice that everytime I pick up a 4x4 magazine, there is another brand or style of 16x10 on the market. In this day and time, I don't think manufacturers would keep making 10 inch wide rims for Fords if there was a chronic vibration problem.

I thought someone would say that! I guess I just need some reassurance for myself! maybe that tire place can't balance a tire on a rim they way its suppose to be balanced! thanks for the reassurance wandell

If you are running a 16x10, you most likely are running a wider, more aggresive tire. The rims won't cause any extra vibration, but the tires might. Just my $.02

Good point. Some tires, like bias ply super swampers, are hard to balance. I have also heard that once you go larger than 35 inches, all you can do is hope to get close to balanced.

My expy rides and handles better with the 16x10's. Just get a good quality wheel and tire and you should have no problem.

I have 16X10 eagles with 33X12.5 SSR's on my 1997 and haven't run into any problem, in fact I love them. My problem is they tell me you cannot run 35's on a 3inch lift? go figure.

A 16x10 rim in good shape is not a reason for vibration. A broken rim or an out of balance tire will be.

Usually they do not have the equipment to deal with large tires like the tires we use. Harder to balance as well. So, you can imagine why that kind of promotion.
