Question 285/75 - R16

Can I safely put a 285/75-R16 tire on a 7" wide rim? Has anyone tried this and is it safe. What kind of wear can I expect from putting the tire on a "narrow" rim?

That is 33" x 11", I have 32" x 14.5" on my Bronco II with 7" rims.

They'll work fine on a 7inch rim. I ran them on my stock rims untill I could afford aftermarket rims.

Yup no problem.. They call for 7.5 but I couldn't wait so I have them on my stock rims now.. And it made the rims look alot better

Thanks. I bought the truck used and it has aftermarket alloy wheels that are 7" wide. I did replace the 245/75 with 265/75 and now am thinking of going up to 285 when the time nears for replacements.

If you can go with the 285s they look great and the wheelwells will still have plenty of room
