tire pressure

I just got some 275-75-17 Goodyear MTr'S mounted today, aside from looking great, they also ride very well.
My question is the proper inflation pressure. The dealer set it at 34 lbs, but said I could go to 50 lbs if I wanted to.I think 50 is a bit high but 34 seems to be a bit low for on road use. I was thinking of somewhere around 38-40 should be good.
Any opinions?

Wink

I keep my load range C tires at 42 lbs front, 40 lbs back for everyday driving. When I tow/haul, I'll pump up the back to 50 lbs (cold).
