Increasing Tire Size?
My friend has a 2001 F-150 Supercrew with 255 70R/16 (Stock Tires & Rims). He would like to go up to a bigger tire size, as he likes the tires I have on my 98 f-150 supercab (265 70R/17). He is not sure what his options are with his current rims or if he should buy 17" rims. Any feedback?
i agree
I have the 17" rims and can only find the Wrangler AT/S that they came with...16's would be better.
On the same note i am wondering what the maximum size tire can go onto these 17" rims. It has 265/70r17's on it. It is the 4x4 ORP so the fender clearance is there but i am wondering what size they cam hold? Any one tackle this on all ready?

Don't understand what you're asking this time, but all I was trying to say was that the 265/75/16 is the same overall height as a 265/70/17 (@31"). So if your buddy wants a taller tire, but not new wheels, a 265/75/16 will work just fine for him.
I have 265/75/16 on my rig.
It's just a taller sidewall compared to a 265/70/16.
They make a ton of different sizes in the 16" wheel size. Alot more then the 17" wheels.

No problem. Glad to help. One more thing, your friend will really want to consider getting a spare tire to match the size of the tires he ends up with.
I had to use mine the other day, and was glad I spent the $50 to get a used 265/75/16 tire. It was on the rear and I have the Limited Slip. If you run a different size tire with an LS, you'll ruin it pretty fast....
