Tire Size Question

I have a 1997 F-150 2wd. I need to know if 225/75R16 will fit on my truck without rubbing. Also, I'd like to go wider , so is the 205 wider than the 225? Thank you in advance for any help I can get.

Yes the 225 should fit just fine without rubbing. 225 is the width of the tire in millimeters, so 205 is a narrower tire. Look on the label in the driver's side door jam to see what size came on the truck. 75 is the ratio of the height to the width.
My 2002 is a 4x4 which sits much higher but it came with 265/70x17s and I put 285/70x17s on it and they don't rub.
Go to tirerack.com to see the specifications on tire sizes.

The stock size on your truck is either 235/70R16 or 255/70R16. Both of those are wider than what you are looking at. Your door jamb sticker should say which yours came with. Even if it came with 235, 255 will fit without rubbing and I'd recommend you get those.
