2001 Screw Can Ford reprogram speedo?
This is my first post since I came back from Chevy land. It's good to be out of the Bowtie and back in a Blue Oval!!!
Anyway, my 2001 Screw came with the 255/70/16 tires and I am considering going with new 265/75/16's. I spoke with my dealer and he has told me that it was possible to reprogram the speedo on 99 and 2000 models, (I had a 97 F-150 that I changed the speedo gear when I did a similar tire change) but he said it was not possible to reprogram the 2001 models. He said there were sensors on the "input and output shafts of the transmission as well as on both rear wheels" and that going with bigger tires would not do any mechanical damage, but might cause the computer to pick up false readings and cause electronic problems. Does anyone out there have any experience with the bigger tires on an 01 model? If so, has there been any negatives? I know I like the look of the bigger tires, but I don't want a load of electronic headaches. Any help would be appreciated.
Thanks
