Anybody ever stuffed 285/75/17's on a 2wd?

First of all, I accidentally posted this in some "aftermarket" forum that hadn't been posted in since last year, so woops. Now on to the question..

Hey yall,
I'm gonna be needing some new tires in the coming month(s). Currently running 285 70 17 Coopers on my 05 2wd with a 2" level, on the stock rims. Like all of us, I'm wanting to go bigger. I came across some Nittos (the new G2's) in size 285/75/17, which I think is something like a 33.8" tire, almost an inch bigger. The restricting factor is that I'm a 2wd. Would the fact that the width (285) is the same mean that rubbing would be less likely, or would the added sidewall be more likely to rub? On a similar line, does the amount of leveling kit have an effect on what size I can go to? Essentially, can a 2" level leave as much space as a 2.5"? I only found 1 picture, and the guy hadn't posted since 2012, so I don't know if he had any rubbing issues or anything. Thank you in advance!

They will probably fit. Take a long hard look at your tire clearance. Do you think you could get away with an added 1/2 inch of height at your closest clearance points. Keep in mind that even though both sizes are "supposed" to be 285mm wide, one could be slightly wider than the other.

Thank you a ton for the input! I will get out and take a good look at how much clearance I physically have when it quits raining here, hah! The whole part about the widths not being identical makes perfect sense to me. I looked on the specs, and the current tire I have measures out to be .1" wider than the new ones, but that could just be for the sake of the spec sheet. I guess even with all the calculations and specifications out there, the best way is still to go out and take an actual look at how much tire I want to put in the space I have.
I had also thought about 295 70 17's, but I really like how the 285 75's fill up the wheel well and are taller, while not adding any more width since I'm on the stock rim.

If it helps at all..i run a raptor beadlock wheels with a 305/70/17 on a 2wd with a 2.5" level. I have no rubbing issues and had to do absolutely no trimming.
