Minus sizing

Hi everyone,

I am new to the truck world and this will be my first winter driving one.
I have done my homework to select new rims and tires for my truck but I could use your experimented advise/validation.

Truck is an F150 2011 XLT Screw 4x4. It came with the XTR package hence the P275/65R18 Tires on it. For obvious reasons in Canada, I am looking for winter tires and rims but I have 2 questions:

1 - Is it okay to minus size my tires/rims to 17'' knowing that the truck came with a 18'' set up?
If Yes I want to go for the aftermarket rims X47756 (steel) that seems popular. Is this ok for my truck?
https://jensentrailers.com/shop/truc...5-6x135-42p-87

2 - For tires I want to go with the Michelin Xice2 but it seems to be for SUV. Michelin LTX seems to be the one for Trucks.
Knowing that I don't tow, and haul rarely during winter, maybe Xice2 are enough?

Thanks for your replies

Switching to 17" wheels is not a problem at all (the truck needs 17" or bigger to clear the brake calipers), but are those meant for a truck? I don't know where you're from, but I see stock 17" wheels for F150s on Craigslist all the time, and for very, very cheap, sometimes as low as $100 for a good set.

Snow tires I can't comment on, on account on me living in Texas.

The Xice is a great winter tire for on road use on a pickup truck. Those wheels are fine if you want to spend that kind of money, I'd personally look for a set of takeoffs.

The closest Xice to a perfect minus 1 is a 265/70R17.

Aftermarket wheels that don't look like spares can be had for a little over $500 for a set.

Like these actually look good:

And regular bullet hole/revolver wheels should definitely be under $200 a piece.

Hi Yaute,

As KMAC0694 mentioned, a 17" wheel was a factory fitment for the vehicle. It will fit just fine.

I have compiled a lot of information regarding winter set ups in the wheel and tire section.

If I can be any help, please let me know.

Well for some reason this website (https://jensentrailers.com/shop/truc...x135-42p-87)is showing very expensive prices. My local aftermarket shop is selling the 4 steelies X47756 17x7.5 6x135 (I don't know the rest of the spec like offset etc) at 80 $ each so it's quite cheap.

I am just wondering if the X47756 are ok for F150 2011 (spec, strong enough, etc)

Yes, those wheels are fine for a F-150.

Ahh that makes more sense. I can't attest to whether they'll be fine, but I assume so.

Hi everyone

Just closing the tread and giving my feedback.

I finally bought the following combination:
X47485 steelies 17x7.5, 6-135 Hub centric
& Michelin Xice2 265/70R17

Combination works great so far

Thank you all for your guidance.
