Lug Nut Interchange
Lug Nut Interchange
I just ordered a 2014 F-150 XLT screw, 3.5L EB, 6.5' bed, 3.31 axle from the factory. Where I live in Idaho, I need to run snow wheels on my rigs.
On my other rig, the snows are on aftermarket wheels which require different lug nuts than stock. The aftermath of an enthusiastic garage cleaning found that those pesky OEM lug nuts were sent to the dump after being found guilty of being dirty by the cleaning party. $200 later I'm whole again.
I'm going to buy rims that use stock lug nuts. One option is to buy OEM rims (for snows I am not looking to pimp, just alloy wheels of some kind). My F150 comes the the 18" Chrome clad Aluminum rims. Are the lugs for these rims unique to this rim, or can I run a 17" rim?
It seems like all aftermarket rims require different lugs than the stock rim, or do I simply live a sheltered life? How would I know that the aftermarket rim nuts are interchangeable?
