Wheel question....

I have the 2011 xlt with the chrome pkg. I'm not happy with the cheap looking plastic covered rims it came with. I found a set of 18" rims in perfect shape from a 2004 Lariat, will they fit a 2011? I have a new set of tires waiting to be installed.

The answer is maybe. Some of the pre 09 model wheels will work and some will not. To my knowledge, the FX4 wheels will not, others will. The only way to tell for sure is try them and see if the wheel spokes hit the calipers. Diameter is not the problem, the amount of set back of the spokes is. I have a set of 09 XLT wheels that I use for winter tires. They fit, but barely. There is probably about a 32 of an inch between the spoke and the caliper.
Just ask if you can put them on and see if they will bypass the caliper.

Thanks, I was thinking the caliper would be the problem. Problem is, the wheels are 80 miles away. But they are like new and 200.00.

I think for that price it would be worth the drive and time it takes to try them. That does assume they are in good shape, after all they are 9 years old.

They were taken off when the truck was new. There are close up pictures of each and they are perfect.

Then I would say it is definitely worth the trip. Normally the wheels run $200+ each.

PS, you might want to post a pic of them. I may be able to say whether it is the FX4 or not.

I mounted wheels from a 2012 FX4 on my 2007 XLT. No problems. Not sure if it would work the other way (2007 wheels on a 2012). Is the chrome cladding on the 2011 XLT wheels really plastic? The chrome cladding on my 2007 chrome package wheels was stamped metal . . . I'm assuming steel.

An 09 up on a pre 09 is not a problem. The problem with the 09 up is that the calipers stick out to the sides more than previous years so some pre 09 wheel spokes make contact with the calipers.
