Offset/fitment question

Hey everyone, I'm looking at some KMC XD Series Spy wheels for my 02 s-crew. It says that they're 17x9" wide, which I believe the stock wheels are 9" wide as well. Or at least the 16" wheels are. My question is about the offset/backspacing. It says they have a -12mm offset. I've been taught what this all means before, but I can't remember because I never use it. What exactly is a -12mm offset as compared to the stock rims, and will I need wheel spaces or anything? It says under "Important Notes" that it has an "Aggressive Fitment! This will require a modification and or a lift kit". I have a 1" leveling kit on my truck now. Its a 2002 4.6L supercrew 2wd. The tires I'm looking at are 265/70/17 **** Cepek. They will also balance and mount them for no extra charge at www.tirerack.com
But anyway, what, if anything, would need to be done to make this setup fit and work with no problems?
Thanks!

Stock 16" wheels are 7.5" wide iirc. -12mm offset on a 9" wheel puts it at 4.5" of backspacing which is the same as stock. On stock width wheels it should fit no problem, because of the wider wheel it may require some trimming.

Alright so those wheels will fit fine, but those tires on those wheels may need trimming?

P.S. You're a big help. thanks for the time you've taken to help me with different things.

Yup, your only issue is going to be the width of the wheel. But I think trimming the little corner off the valence should be all you'll need to do. And once it' trimmed you won't even notice the difference after like a week.
