suggestions on cupped tires?

suggestions on cupped tires?

so on my set of 33x12.50 toyo m/t's that ive had for 2 years now....just running during the summer months, i had my 2 front tires cup on me at the end of last summer right before i took them off. no more than 1/8 of an inch on the lugs from outside to inside. i only put on about 3k miles in the time they are on so i figured having them on for that time without rotating them they would be fine. so now i have 2 like that and 2 that are perfect still that were on the rear. i planned on putting the cupped ones on the back and the better ones on the front. if i do that will there be any issues? will they wear more evenly if on the back instead of the front? any suggestions or input would help seeing these were my first set of serious tires like this. thanks all.

Moving them to the back will not be a problem. Tires should be rotated anyhow. Have you had your vehicle aligned as that is one of the major reasons for cupping. That and bad shocks, and at 3 years old and how many miles could also be a problem.

shocks and alignment. suggest checking ball joints and steering components for slack.

this. is your truck lifted? ive seen this quite a bit on bigger trucks but not on stock f150s

thanks for responses guys. all my underside components are in good shape. just had an inspection and everything was cleared like ball joints and such. no problems with shocks. last alignment i had done was when i bought my duratracs for the winter. and that was right after i took the toyos off. truck has 44k on it. not too crazy for 3 yrs old but not low either. and all i have is a front and rear autospring level kit. 1 1/2 in spacers in front and 3" blocks in the back. im swapping them back on today. will put the cupped ones on the rear and get an alignment early next week. as they are definately heavier and wider than my 275/70/18 duratracs.

Tires too wide for the rim will cause cupping but I would think it would happen on all four. Unless maybe the extra weight on the front contributed.

If those are the original shocks, at 44k they are done or close to done. Unfortunately as heavy as the suspensions are, it is not easy to diagnose bad shocks . The bounce test doesn't work. However once changed, you will be amazed how bad the originals were.

i see what you mean about the shocks kingfish. was hoping to squeeze every last bit out of them til i get a lift as soon as this fall, which would most likely include new shocks with the kit. then hopefully the tires will still be in good enough shape to sell and get some money to put towards the new lift and tire/wheel combo. i would think even if all 4 wear down a little bit more than where they already are theres still plenty of tread and life left to get maybe 750 back out of my 2300 original price. someone would put em to good use til they really see the end of their days.

cupping can also be caused by improper balancing and no rotation

I've see new tires become choppy and cupped in 4-6 months because they weren't balanced correctly

Worn suspension components / poor alignment will cup your tires. I trashed a set of Hercules Trail Digger MTs before I could get new ball joints / shocks on my truck... Expensive lesson to learn...
