Just got this tip last night from a friend that shows a '73 Dart Sport. He was told to wipe white letters with a rag dampened with mineral spirits. He tried it before the event we went to last night and said it was the best thing he has ever found to turn from gray to white.

Mineral Spirits...... is that the same thing as paint thinner?
Sounds like something worth trying.

White Letters=Laquier Thinner/Paint Reducer
Tires=Simple Green

I got new tires last week and was disappointed that the white letters were turning brown right away so I decided to try something I had seen about detailing on a car show a few weeks ago. It was suggested that Laquer thinner should be used to clean the white letters so I tried it just to see and was absolutely amazed at the difference. I love to buy something new and make it look even more brilliant and that's what the laquier thinner does. It breaks down the layer of dirt and just whipes it off. I just outlined the letters and they shine so bright the tires really stand out now. They look better than when I purchased them.

I also use Black Magic tire dressing. I wash my truck once a week and use the dressing every other week. I've found that the Simple Green breaks down the build up of gunk left on the tires after a few weeks so I can reapply the dressing to a fresh base.

It's quite simple. Have them installed blackwalls out. I think that's a much better look than having annoying white letters spinning around.

IN?!?!?! no way!

White Letters look awesome when cleaned up nice. Especially SOLID white letters! Turning in white letters is like a woman with a great body wearing sweats everyday! What a waste!

I have sucessfully used Simple Green and a somewhat stiff brush and also have tried the Eagle A2Z wheel cleaner when I use that on the wheels and that worked extremely well also.

I guess it's a very subjective personal preference thing, but to me having white letters on display on the sidewalls of your tires is like some guy with a '74 Pinto who has "Ford" emblazoned across his windshield in 4" letters. Yeah, I know it's a Ford, do you really need to plaster writing all over your car to prove it?
A truck looks best in my opinion with a nice set of all-terrain tires installed blackwalls out. Each to his or her own...
P.S. There's nothing wrong with a woman with a great body wearing sweats: it's what's underneath that counts and sweats come off a lot easier!!

MEAN GREEN; you can buy it at walmart for about three bucks a bottle(1Ltr). It's great stuff. You can clean the whole truck with it Safe for the Rims and getting grease off the paint. TRY IT! You'll see for your self.

Spray Nine & Steel Brush

I use spray nine and a steel brush. I hope I am not hurting anything. Seems to work really well.
