1997 F150 brake leak.

i replaced alot of brake stuff on my 1997 F150 4.6L 2WD no ABS not to long ago including all of the lines from the front to the rear block where it comes to the rubber hose and from the block on the axle out to the wheel cyl.

now i have a leak and it is coming out of the bottom of the block on the axle.

My question to you is how do i fix this?

i have heard from a few people that rubber line will not come off the block and its a project and a half. any ideas? temp fix's? im good for anything at this point.

Thanks all!

is there a copper washer where the 2 join up?

Did you replace it when you put in new lines. Usually you need to use a new copper washer when you take it apart.

If not, then just replace the flex line to fix the leak.

i replaced from the master cyl to the rubber line on the frame rail next to the gas tank. i replaced from the block on the axle to each brake cyl. i did not take the rubber line off. i did not see any copper washer's anywere when i took the brake likes off.

its leaking right out of the middle of the block at the bottom.

what is this "block" you talk about? Do you have a picture of it?

Sounds like you might be talking about a load sensing proportioning valve.
(I'm not entirely sure, but I think the 1997s had one).

If so, this is a mechanism that adjusts the rear brake pressure based on the weight on the rear axle.

If it is leaking then you will need to replace it.

huh... I'm not sure what that is. It might just be a junction in order to split the line out to the 2 rear brakes.

I think a trip to the ford service dept. is in order. They could tell you what that block is and get you a new one.
