I just bought Michelin LTX MS2. It seems to be the most like a winter tire yest lasts forever. It is no ice tire as I am finding this morning in our sleet storm. I think you would need studs or cables for that mess... They sell a LTX Winter that is the same pattern but a 200 treadwear compound. The MS2 is a 720 treadwear. If we move to any worse climate I am mounting a second set of wheels up with Cooper Discoverer M/S in E load with Studs. I found takeoff FX wheels on Ebay for $450 and new sensors for $60.

After fixing the wife's ABS pulse ring, huge issue in snow, we hooked up with a set of GY Fortera triple tread tires. Rain? Snow? No issues at all, the thing just plows through and now comes to a controlled stop (abs thing). It's a good all year tire so you don't need 2 sets of tires. My only issue is they are directional, but tire rotations front to back only so far are fine. These tires are highly rated for weather like rain, snow and ice.
