tell me about nittos...
i search and search and cant find what i want... so i want a GOOD LOOKING all terrain tire... found the BFGs for about 300 a piece... but i can get nitto trail grapplers and terra grapplers for ALOT less than that... how well do they ride and hold up? about how long can i expect them to last?
I have them and I have been a long BFG fan. I just couldnt justify the price of them for 20s. So far I LOVE the nittos. Not as aggressive as the BFGs IMO, but look dang good! Great ride and good wear

I have 295/70/17 Terra Grapplers. Everything out the door for 5 of them was $1k in Nov. 2010. Although I only have about 12k miles on them, they've performed excellent in everything I've needed them to. The ride is great and they sure came in handy when we got 8" of snow last winter.
then price out some BFGs or something, the Nittos are alot cheaper. Especially for a tire you can get oversized
the price i got for them is unbeatable. a friend of mine owns a tire/body shop and i did alot of side work for him and helped him with his house. he quoted me at 170 each but not installed, i think it was like 10 a tire mounted and balanced.
You should check out the new Toyo Open Country AT II Xtreme. Good looking tire. Treaddepot.com has a great price on them too. I think they look quite a bit better than the Terra Grappler.

ill be gettin the terras.. unless i can get the trail at the same price and it gets about the same life as the terras, which i doubt. the only offroading i do with my truck is boat launches every weekend and the dirt roads going to my deer lease. i've got a new polaris for SERIOUS offroading, so trails or MT's arent needed
What size are you looking at getting? I've had the BFG's, the Trails, and the Terras. I personally love the Nitto tires. I'm on my second set of the Trails currently. They are noisier than the Terras but not terrible. Its the only mud-terrain tire I've owned, so I can't provide a comparison there. I sold the truck with my first set on them and had roughly 20,000 miles on them. Still looked strong and I believe the guy is still running them. The ones I have now I've only been running since July.
The Terras were a great tire for me. I ran them on a 2002 FX4 SuperCrew in 305/55/20. I got 55,000 miles out of them and they still had good tread left. They were just getting a little old and I was looking for a reason to get new tires. But I thought they rode exceptionally well (better than the BFG's in my opinion). I had a hard time getting the BFG's to balance easily. Nittos had no problem. I think that for the money you save, especially if you're looking at any of the larger rim diameters, you really can't beat the Nittos.

Not sure if you read the post i placed a link to on my review of the trails. Expect at least 40k and with good maintenance and your driving habits expect more. Anyways I have my second set on and love them as much as the first.
yep, i read it. i dont think ive talked to anyone who had anything bad to say about the terras or the trail graps. but for 170 a piece, i cant pass up the deal. theyve got a wheel and tire place right across the bridge from the dealership i bought my truck, so i'll see how much they would charge to mount them up. sears wouldnt touch my rims and tires because they didnt trust the machine or the guy installing them to not scratch the rim, but then he said it was because i didnt buy the rims from them.they got pretty pissed off at me when i said "well if you dont trust your installer to not scratch the rim, you should tell EVERYONE else trust you"... in a store full of people.
