Replacing CRACKED Pirellis!!!!!!!!

I have 25k miles on my Pirelli Scorpion ATRs. One of them threw a belt and needed to be replaced. The tire shop checked them all and said both fronts were bad and needed to be replaced. I asked why both. I knew the one with the slipped belt but why the other one? The response was "dry rot cracks" on the sidewall. WHAT?? I drive on these tires everyday my truck is in a garage when at home and they only have 25k on them. After I expressed my concern the shop owner looked at the tires and said it was stress cracks not dry rot and that he sees this alot on Pirellis. He informed that the warranty would be pro-rated to about 50% and I would have to go back with Pirellis if I went ahead with the warranty claim. I asked what my options were. He gave me a few diffirent options. I decided to have a used tire in decent shape replace the on with the slipped belt, as a temporary fix, and have an alignment done which was what I went in for in the first place. I've pretty much decided that within the next few weeks I will replace all four of my Pirellis (they all have stress cracks on the sidewall). I'm leaning toward the Michelin LTX M/S2. Does anyone have any experience with these tires? Are they as good as advertised? Any advice is appreciated.. Thank You.

Search 1010tire and tire rack and read the reviews. I went with the Firestone Destination A/T as they are the best bang for the buck. Replaced mine last Feb. and they have worked well in snow, rain and dry roads. I don't go too deep into the woods/mud, but they have worked well in what I have driven into.
