replacements for toyo m/t's

wrote up a recent thread on my latest situation with my toyo m/t's and how they cupped a bit on me due to probably needing an alignment done. ill be more careful when i put them back on next summer and be sure to rotate them halfway through the general time frame of when i have them on my truck.

so now i am sometime soon going to be needing to replace my stock tires for my 2010 scab. ive been trying to look at all types of tires that have similarities to the open country m/t's. that real aggressive look. like how the tread kinda wraps around the sides of the tire. but are not 10 ply as well as not weighing the 75 or so pounds that they weigh.

ive looked at the cooper stt tek3, bfg ta ko, federal couragia, interco trxus m/t, kumho's, dunlop's, goodyears. im just really undecided at this point still. want that look of the open country's but dont want the weight, rolling resistance and tread life of them. id like to get something a little bigger than the stock size as well as even bigger in diameter as even my toyo's. id like 33.3 to 34.7 for my fall, winter and spring tires and eventually go up to something in 35's to run in the summer when the toyo's are shot.

if i can get something in that 33.3 to 34.7 range that is even 10 pounds less per tire would be a positive. to get a total of 40 pounds less rolling from a dead stop would be huge. wondering if anyone has any suggestions about something i may or may not have mentioned through someone they know or personal use.

So let me get this thread straight in an attempt to offer valuable input…you want the big, aggressive, good looking mud tire in sizes much larger than stock, but you want to shed at least 10+ lbs per tire in the process and get super tread life?? Oh, and at the same time, a tire that fits these requirements plus less than 10 ply to offer a nice ride??

Have I got that summed up pretty good?

compared to the toyo m/t's i have yes. like for instance i really like the look, ratings and reviews i have seen of the cooper discoverer stt tek3. those come in the 33.3 inch or 275/70/18. they are bigger than the toyo's, not by alot but they are, and also weigh 13lbs less than them. the bfg ta ko's also come in at a 33.2 inch size and comparable width of 11 inches and come in even lower at 57 lbs. see what im gettin at here. they are out there and do exist. sure they might not have a tread wear superiority from tire to tire but more or less the weight was the biggest issue of the criteria im looking for i guess. if i can get at least the same if not bigger tire that comes in slimmer by 13 or more pounds its a winner for me
