I just bought my 02 f150 lariat supercrew in January. didnt think much about it when i bought it but it has 16in wheels, looked it up and found that stock was 17's why would someone downsize the wheels? thanks J

 

So you're saying you have aftermarket wheels on it now? Lot's of reasons to go 16". Depending on when the wheels were swapped out, it is extremely likely that at that time, there were A LOT more tire brand and size options available for a 16" wheel; would be the most likely excuse. Going from a 17" to a 16" is not necessarily a bad thing, if that's what you're getting at.

 

yes they are aftermarket, the spare is still a 17"

 

Most people go to a smaller wheel just to save money on tire cost.
