Brake light is on
Brake light is on
Ok, I have a little over 70,000 miles on a set of Thermo Quite's.
About a week ago my brake light started coming on and would stay on for a couple of miles then go off.
I checked the fluid level in the master and topped it off.
The light stayed off for a couple of days then started coming on and going off again. This is very random, with no pattern to it. Sometimes when I get in and start my truck it is on, other times it's off and comes on as I am going down the road.
I checked my pads this past weekend and still have some pad left on all four.
I also measured my rotors and they all measured @ 1.380 and according to spec's I should not have to replace them until they are down around 1.125.
I was wondering if anyone knew what was going on and what I can do to get the light off and keep it off.
I plan to replace my pads next, and will go back with the Thermo Quite's!
Thanks!
JW

The red BRAKE light is supposed to light under two conditions:
1) The fluid level float switch is triggered.
2) The switch attached to the e-brake pedal is not fully disengaged.
You will need to determine which switch is turning on the light.

Got the same problem with my truck. Checked all 4 corners to make sure nothing was hanging up or had any other problems mechanically. All checked good.
Replaced the e-brake switch, did nothing.
I guess that means it's the brake fluid level sensor.
Still haven't replaced it.
