Left front wheel problems

Hello,

I have a 2006 f150 4x4, was hearing a grinding noise coming from the front left wheel. Ordered a new hub assembly from Ford and had it put in. The noise went away for a few days, now I am hearing a loud clicking and humming sound coming from the same wheel. Anyone have any suggestions on what it could be now? I am no mechanic and I would appreciate any help. Thanks

If you bought the part from the dealer and they installed it then you should be able to bring it back to them and have it checked out as it comes with a 1yr warranty or 12k miles.

I bought the part at the Ford dealership but I had a local mechanic put it in. The dealership said that once the part is put on it cant be returned, which i think is BS. If I find it to be a defective hub assembly then i will probaly call Ford and see if I can get another one without having to pay.

He Psufan I asked my father who worked for ford parts for 10+years and here is what he said about the hub.

"The part has a 12/12 warrenty. all you need is the recpt from the dealer...milage on the part....vin number.....milage when installed and when replacement is requested. now to get the new part you have to return the defective one so the car will be tied up for a few days unless u purchase a new on saying it will be for warrenty and they make note of it.take about 2 working days to get the money back."

So looks like as long as you fall in that window of time and have all your receipts you should be good to go. Good luck.

Thanks for the info nditech. My cousin is the one who put the hub assembly in. I had him come over and take the truck for a drive to hear the clicking noise. He drove it and said the problem has to do with the abs cable. He drove it hard down the road and slammed on the brakes. After doing that the clicking went away on the way back. Does it sound like the abs cable could be a problem? Thanks

Hey Psufan Ill ask my ford mech what he thinks so Ill have to get back to you about the abs cable as im not sure where the cable is or how its mounted. I would think though if that was the problem you would be able to get under and check to make sure its tight or mounted properly.

Thanks for the help nditech, I took the truck to the Ford garage and they checked the vacuum on the left and right side and determined that the left actuator was bad which was causing the problem. I have driven the truck for a week now and dont hear the noise anymore, so hopefully the problem was solved.
