I'm going to go with a 2" level. What size tires would fit without any rubbing? The project is a '11 4x4 with stock 17x7.5" wheels, which I plan on keeping.. Would 285/70 or 305/70 look better? Keeping in mind I hate the look of a 34-35" tires on 7" rims JMO..

 

you answered your own question. the 305/70 is a 34.8 inch tire

285/70/17 or 305/65/17. I disagree that 34s look terrible on 17s, but to each their own.

 

I'm with you on that one. Big tires on 17s means you're saving a lot of money. I have 35s on 17x9 procomp rims now, and I'm planning on putting 37s on in a few months. I can't justify spending hundreds if not a thousand more to have the same size tire just with a bigger hole in the middle

 

And for comparison purposes here is my truck with 285/70/17. 32.8 inch tire.
