Wheel offset/width question (Yes another one)

I have a 97, 4x4 reg cab short bed. I'm running 17x9 -12 os with a 285/70 on it; And the tire is almost set flush with my factory flares (sittin in just a little bit). I'm lookin to get the tires setting out about another inch, two at most. Would a 10" width rim, -12mm os, with a 12.50 tire put it about where i'm wanting to me? I'll be considering either 18's, maybe 20's on a 35 12.50 when i figure out how this will all look and sit. I was thinking a 20x10 with -24mm os, but that may be a tad bit too far out for my liking i think, but i may be wrong.

-24 on a 20x10 will be about 4.5" of backspacing so it'll be the same amount you have on your current wheel. However with the rim being an inch wider and the tire being about an inch wider also it should sit you about where you want to be.

However with you just having the stock key's cranked and no actual lift I have a feeling you'll have some rubbing issues with a 10" wide wheel and a 35x12.50.

My stock "L" rims are 18x10 with a 295/45/18. the width is 11.61 on the tire and I needed to make custom steering stops or the rim will hit the LCA with a 5/7 drop. If you want Madness I can take a few pics of the tire to fender clearence. If you go 20's I would go 20x9 or 8.5 with a 275/40/20 to keep it all tucked and clean. That tire size would be 10.82 wide X 28.66 tall. Patman runs that size I believe and I will too when I get some new shoes for my 20's. If you went with a 20 X 10 the a 295/40/20 would put you at 11.61 wide X 29.29 tall. Hope this helps!!

I'll be adding a Body Lift, or a suspension lift. not 100% decided on it yet. So the rubbing may not occur.

Nah no need for pics. This is going on my 4x4 truck, not the lowered one. I already have the lowered trucks stuff planned out.

Either one of those would most likely cancel out all the rubbing. The only rubbing I could possibly see happening would be on the frame at full lock depending on how aggressive the tires are you choose to go with.

Exactly thats why you have to grind off the stock steering stops and use some 1/2 bolts and nuts to make them adjustable for the rim and tire combo.

I'll most likely stay with the Federals i have. Cant beat the price imo and they've been great for me so far.
