Nitto Trail Grapplers or Nitto Terra Grapplers

I'm torn between these 2 tires. I do a lot of driving and I want a tire that's gonna preform well in all conditions. Does anyone know the millege that's expected out of the 2? I'm gonna be running 295 70 17 if that makes a difference. Thanks for the help. And if you have had any problems with either please let me know.

Im running the trails on mine. Got 12k on them so far and have somewhere in the neighborhood of 3/4 tread left on them +/- a little. They are a great tire. I havent had any holes in them yet and i know i've hit some thorns. If they last I will def buy again....if not the terras are my next purchase.

What kinda driving? Logging roads then probably go with the Trails Graps.....Highway then I would suggest Terras. I have had the Trails and loved them, very quiet for rd use, but very aggressive looks and performance with off road driving. No doubt the look category goes with the Trails, but if MPG are a concern at all then the Terras are what you want.

These two tires have nothing in common besides the manufacturer; you're comparing apples and oranges. Based on that and you asking, I'm assuming your trying to justify not making a practical tire choice. If you have your wish list honestly narrowed down to one of these two tires, and at the end of the day, you're going to choose the practical one that really meets your honest needs, then the question doesn't need asking. Mud vs all terrain; should be an easy decision. However, if you're trying to justify getting the tire you want (vice need), then yea, my vote is for the Trails!!!!!

I completely agree with Big Smokey...I had a set of Terra Grapplers for 50,000+ miles. The absolute most boring tire I've ever had in my live.

The Terra is an awesome tire that does everything great; on road, mild off road, wet, winter, handles great, great for towing, etc, etc. But no personality at all. I got rid of mine with life left cause I couldn't take it anymore. But, not everyone has the same requirements in a tire...mine are looks! And lets really be honest here...what's wrong with buying a tire based on looks? Is there really a truly bad tire out there these days?

I'm in the same boat as the OP. I SHOULD get an AT tire, but I'm going to get the Trail Grapps! They're just too good looking to pass up and they come at a pretty good price. I've had the ProComp XTreme AT's and they've been a great, long lasting tire, but although aggressive, lacked that badass look. Worse regarding the less aggressive Terra Grapps (which I love and have on my '04 Tahoe) They do their job, look real good on a passenger vehicle but on a truck (lifted at that), the Trails win hands down. I just hope I get close to 40k on them...

I'm getting my new tires when the winter starts back up later in the year.

Thanks for all of the responses. I really appreciate it. I think for now I'm gonna go with the Terra Grapplers. I drive about 76+ miles a day and I'm still in the process of building my other trucks. Later on I hope to do a much bigger lift and go with 37s or if possible 40s and at that point I'll swap to the Trail Grapplers.

You ll love the terra grapplers. I just put them on my truck in a 33" size with a level and they look plenty beefy without being road humming and annoying. Drive awesome too. I also have a long commute and they have a very comfortable ride.

Ill take the trial grapplers any day. There is a little more noise, the ride is good - a little stiff but thats because its an E rated tire. Im in a truck so I really dont expect a plush ride. Added off road capabilities when needed along with looks, trail grappler wins in my book; when these are worn out I am replacing them with the same thing. Here is a pic of the ones I have.

Haha. I do love the look of the Trail Grapplers but I need a tire that will last for a good bit of hwy driving. I use the truck to tow my other F150 to distant car shows and from what I've been reading the Terras will do better with towing and driving those distances. But I'm still torn between the two. Haha.

Just got back from a 2,500 mile road trip and the Terra's on my truck performed great on the highway. Hardly any road noise and did great in the mountain's of Tennessee even with some light rain falling. A little boring in the look's dept. but with 17k miles on them in a year they've been great so far.
