For cheap I would look into treadwrights, Federal Couragia, or Kanati Mudhawgs. The Firestone dealer in my town sells Federal and Wal-Mart has Kanati.

This could be your best offer if you are running 17" rims...

Yep sure is... Plus he's running 16's... That was a "or best offer" on 17's... He really can't get any cheaper than any of the tires already mentioned..

In his size he'll still be looking at $200 a tire in any option..

Sometimes, tire dealers can get discontinued tires at a discount to you. Just beware of the manufacturing date so that they won't crack from age.

i bought a set for my 05 SC XLT and love them, i paid $205 a piece with lifetime rotation and balance from Big O tires in Enid. I wanted the Nitto's but they had these. Ive put 5k miles on them since i bought them a month ago and they have been great. havent done much off roading but the oil lease roads are definetly rough and they have handled great. havent need to kick in 4wd yet.

KANE2727,

I have had a set of Hercules Trail Digger MTs on my truck for a little over 30K miles now. The fronts are wearing out, but it is NOT the fault of the tires. I honestly never rotated them because I have had some minor suspension problems that I wasn't able to afford to fix for far too long (bad shocks, bad alignment, lots of bills, extra relatives in my house and only one income for a LONG time...). The rears however aren't even half way worn, and I have gotten more than a little P.O.ed and put up a smoke show with the rears on more than one occasion... Yes the 5.4l 3V with 3.53 gears WILL smoke 35x12.5 knobby / grippy rubber given a full stomp...

These tires have worn exceedingly well considering the amazing amounts of mechanical abuse I have heaped on them.

The looks are awesome.

For me, most importantly the grip on slippery / gooey stuff is insane. You might not offroad much, but living on south Texas, you have to know all about mud slicked roads when heavy rains wash mud a couple of inches deep across the road. I personally experienced that after Hurricane Ike... High water on the road, no problem, they dissipate water beter than ANY tire I have ever had, including the Aquatreads that I had on my first Saturn...

I know you say off road isn't important to you, but I have to give props her to these tires. Off road, in sloppy, slick, thick nasty mud is where these things shine. I've got a friend with Pro Comp MTs on his H2, and I frequently embarass him with my F150 / Trail diggers, he has lockers, I am still running the open diffs...

Mind you, these are KNOBBY, tires with BIG voids between the *****, meaning they are going to be a little noisy going down the road. But then again, I have never been around a quiet mud tire...

Long story short, how do I feel about these tires? In 35x12.50/17 they are right at $90.00 a tire cheaper than the BFG KM2, and I am NOT a cheapest possible kind of guy. I like best bang for the buck. As such I am willing to pay more for the KM2 if I think they are worth it...

I already have my new set of Hercules Trail Diggers on order...
