Rim offset

I got a 2011 F150 with OEM 20" rims and 275/55/20 Pirellis. I want to make some upgrades, but need to do it gradually. I can't afford to buy rims and tires at the same time. First thing I want to do is buy some new rims. Eventually, I'll buy more aggressive tires. I've seen alot of great pics with 305/55/20s, and have also found out.... they're expensive. Is it possible to safely buy rims with enough offset that will make 275 tires stick out as far as the 305s? I'm either looking at either 9 or 10" wide rims. I'm not sure how wide the factory OEM 20" rims are.

I believe factory 20s are 8.5 inches wide. U could easily get a wheel with a 0 or negative offset that would give u a wider stance. What offset do the wheels that u are looking at have?

I believe they are +44. Do ya see any problems with going up to a -24 offset with 275/65/20s?

You may want to calculate the offset based on what tire you want to run in the future. If you get lets say a +0 offset 9" wide wheel now for your stock 275 and later change to 305, that is over a 1/2 inch further out than your stockers (15mm each side). Try this webpage.
