rim width question

I have a stock 98 4x4 and have read here that I can fit 285/75/16 tires on it with no mods, just changing the t-bar. Can I use this tire on a 10" wide rim without hitting the frame at full wheel lock?

Yes. You will have to trim a little plastic off the front bumper's lower valance.

A 10" wide rim is too wide for a 285/75R16. All the manufacturers I looked at do not recommend wider than a 9" rim for that size.

Yes, a 10 inch wide wheel is slightly wider than recommended for a 285mm wide tire. But, I ran that combo for 60,000 miles with no problem. A 305/70-16 (33x12.50) would be a better choice.
