BFG Rugged Terrains

Looking to have dealer swap out the 20" Scorps with these new BFG tires. Anybody have any experience with them ? I haven't see anything else I like for on/off road, except the BFG T/A KO's, but I don't care to lose the fuel economy. Thanks in advance.

Don't know much about BFG all terains but give a look at Cooper Zeon LTZ's, I run them on my 2010 F150 4x4 Screw. I went from the dealer straight to discount tire and swapped out the scorpions, my truck was at 35,000mi last month, and decided to put 4 new LTZ's on. Discount said I could have got another 3000mi out of the first set. I've driven a Ford 4x4, 150, 250, 350, and now back to 150, since 1994, had all types of tires, from mud tires to normal truck tires and never have I driven 35000mi on a set like I have with the Cooper Zeon's. I do get my tires rotated about every 5000mi.
2010 F150 SCrew 4x4 6.5' bed Cooper Zeon LTZ, 275-60/20's 1.5"level kit with extra leaf spring in rear

I had the rugged trails as stock tires and they wore really quick. Here is a pic of the rugged trails on right on all terrains on rim

if a mpg or two is going to sway you away from a good tire, you might want to trade your truck in for a prius! you are talking about 3 bucks a tank probably difference. Id rather have a good tire.... when you say the new bfgoodrich..you arent talking about the rugged trails that used to come stock on trucks, but the other Rugged Terrains....There is a guy at work that puts a lot of miles on his and they look good for a street tire.....much better then the rugged trails IMO. honestly the bfg's are too pricey for me, but they usually get pretty good mileage out of them. I like nittos, thats just my taste.

we have rugged terrains on our '09 sd and it just turned 20,000 and the tires have about 80-75 percent tread. As long as you dont use them to go offroad all the time you will be fine. whenever it comes out of the garage it drives about 3 miles of gravel to go to the highway.

Are you looking at the new ones or the old ones? The old ones suck and the new ones aren't too bad. No complaints from my Aunt and Uncle yet. (they have them on their expedition)

NOT Rugged TRAILS, but the new Rugged TERRAIN. If it is only a bit per tank, I'd rather the BFG T/ A KO's.

The New rugged terrains have worked out pretty well so far. Not quite as aggressive as the T/A KOs, but they will do better with mpg and on pavement.

What kind of off-roading are you planning on doing?

I'm mostly highway, although I am in construction (manager) and those clay sites get slick. My dad won't drive anything but BFG T/A's, and I had them pm my last F350 and loved them. I'm afraid theyll killy mileage, though. My offroading is the sites, getting off the road when quadding, and messy fire lanes in the woods.

I've had the T/A before with no mph change... Get the tire and save gas by going easy with your right foot.

Clay kinda sucks no matter what tire you have, unless its a dedicated mudder. I say get the BFG Terrains and write up a full review on them

Smokewagon, I am looking at the new Rugged Terrains as well. Fourwheeler did a tire review on them about 2 months ago and they got a great review. When I pick up my new truck tomorrow night I'm going to see if the dealer will let me swap for those.

They don't looks too impressive to me honestly. I'd like them better if there were some siping on the tread blocks.

I think if I can get T/A's for a reasonable difference, I'll go with them instead of the Terrains.
