2002 F150 Lariat 4x4 5.4L Brake Parts/Tools???

Ok, a friend of mine is planning on helping me finally learn how to change pads on my truck. Decided to order a full set of pads and rotors for front and back while I'm at it. They are on the way. Want to make sure I know what else to have for the job.

- Brakes and Rotors? CHECK
- Special Tools? Somebody said I might need a special hex tool for the calipers or some other part removal? If so, what size to get? I have a lot of tools, but maybe not that. Any other tools, beyond sockets, wrenches, big ol' hammer?
- Brake cleaner?
- Anti-chatter, brake quiet? Whatever that is ..... maybe comes with pads?
- What else???

Thanks

I did a full replacement on my 02 FX4 last year. It was pretty straight forward from what I remember. There was a great write-up on the forums that I followed. Don't remember needing any special tools. Definitely need the brake cleaner, the brake quiet, and there was a lubricant necessary as well for the caliper pin and the hub prior to putting on the rotor.

Good size C-clamp, metric sockets, deep and shallow (helps to have variety), Anti-seize, die grinder with wire brush to clean up things like caliper bracket, caliper pistons etc. where new stuff goes and places you'd put anti-seize. Pretty easy to do the brakes, just pay attention to the orientation of parts like where the wear indicator goes up or down on the pads, things like that. Oh ya, I clean the caliper bracket bolt threads and re-threadlock (blue) them (front)!
