Anyone with Chrome XD Series wheels?

Does anyone have a set of XD Series Chrome wheels? How well does the finish hold up? Also are the black XD wheels powder coated? Do they hold up better than the chrome?

I have a 2012 Lariat on order and would like the chrome wheels but am worried about the finish holding up in MI.

Does anyone think it's a bad idea to purchase the leveling kit, rims and tires before taking delivery of the truck?

I was thinking about that but what does that do to the alignment if the tire sizes are different?

As long as you take care of them during the winter, then the chrome ones will hold up pretty good. The blacks will do better just because they don't pit as much as the chrome. I think ordereing everything before you get the truck sounds good so that you have it all ready to go when you get the truck.

I don't think the wheels/tires really affect the alignment much, but I may be wrong about that.

I ahve had both. I like the powdercoated xd's better. But if you like chrome if you keep them clean you will be fine. If they start getting nasty you can use 000 or 0000 steel wool and soapy water to clean them. If you get the xd addicts just fyi the silver screw accent things turn yellow on ya after a while and kmc doesnt have replacements for them yet.

Ive got the chrome hoss wheels. pics in gallery.
However i always put a cheap set back on for winter. This year will be the first winter in 3 years that mine have ever seen salt. As of now though after 3 years of use they look brand new still. as long as you keep them waxed and rinse them off you wont have too much of a problem...

They will hold up like any other Chrome wheel. Since you're in an anrea that has to worry about road salt being an issue then it'll require more maintaining. As others have said the safest way is rubbing factories during te winter. Alignment wont be a huge issue. It may be off some, but not by much. If you do decide to run them all year long then make sure to clean them at least twice a week during the winter just to be safe.

Also whatever you do, DO NOT use steel wool on a chrome surface unless you dont mind scratches and swirl makrs in the chrome.

When I was a lot younger I had a chrome Mongoose bike that had sat out in the weather one night and developed a few rust spots. I used a brillo pad and water to remove them, but it also left swirls in the chrome finish. This is why I've never used type of steel wool again. Maybe youre correct and it won't scrtch wheels, but I'm not willing to try.

Steel wool can actually work wonders on chrome, it is just extremely important that you use the right kind. I think 0000 or finer. And don't apply too much pressure. Use medium pressure.
