Brake Booster

I have a 2005 F150 with 65,000 miles on it and when I step on the brake it makes a sort of squawk like the brake booster is losing vacuum. I have no air in my brake lines, and pads and rotors are in good shape with a full reservoir. I wanted to make sure it was the booster causing this problem before I go any further. Any one had any issues with this?

Is it difficult to stop or does it take normal pressure to stop?

If the brakes are functioning normally, what you may be hearing is the bushing on the swivel for the brake pedal, which is up under the dash. A pretty common problem.

The pedal is really soft and it seems a little harder to stop than normal but then again the brakes have never been as firm as I would like.

Turn the truck off and then pump the brake pedal until you have a hard pedal, hold it there and start the motor. If the pedal drops then your booster is ok. If it doesn't move then the booster is probably bad.
