Tire structure. (Sidewall peeling)

I have a set of Firestone Destinations LE thath the PO through on when he had it. Ever since I got the truck Ive noticed a square inch white shopt next o the white wall letters. Never paid it no mind because I figured it was part of the tire but I recently realized it was actually missing rubber. Looks like he may have hit a curb or something and scraped off the patch.

I'm posting because I'm curious of the damage. the patch is uniformed and looks like its part of the tire, not like a tear or its been ripped off. I also didn't realise the rubber on the sidewall was so thin on street tires. The cords where the rubber is missing is all in tact and such.

Im basically curious if I should worry about this.

I plan on getting new tires within the yr but wont happen til after my trip and lift.
