Rim/Tire options for 4x2

Need to replace tires on my 04 XLT 4x2, but would like to change out the rims. Current wheels are stock 235/70/r17's and look undersized, and I think a 20x9 rim would be a big improvement. Discount Tire web site has several that I like, all showing a 25 mm offset. No plans for a lift, so am wondering what the biggest street tire I can run. The forums have a lot of posts for 4x4 scenarios, but I have been unable to find much on working with a stock 4x2. Based on what I have read, it seems that a 265x50x20 would work, but am wondering about a 275x55x20, and how far would either combination push the wheel past the fender. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

I would go with 305/50/20. Would fill the wheelwells nicely. Possibly add a 2 inch rear lowering shackles and u have yourself a sporty truck. If u want more sidewall u could go with the 55 series tires.

The Harley edition trucks came with 275/55-20's and were lowered an inch. I'd go with that size, a 285/50-20 or 305/50-20.
