Exclamation 1997 brakes. HELP!!

Hello. I own a 97 f150 5.4L XLT. My ABS light is on, my parking brake is also on. My brakes have always been pretty bad, but recently, theyve gone from bad to terrible. I can barely stop!! The brake pedal goes all the way to the floor with no resistance. I have to jam my foot all the way down to get my truck to stop. My brakes have a grinding sound also when i brake. Any help on what the problem is is greatly appreciated.

Check the brake fluid would the first thing I would do. What kind of grinding noise is it? If its metal on metal I would go to the shop and get your brakes completely changed asap.

I don't know that much about brakes, but, it seems like you need to drop some $$ into some new brakes. The way your brakes are now could possibly fail all together and get you into some trouble. I'd take it to a mechanic or brake specialty shop and have them diagnose it for you.

um. looks like you need new pads and rotors. also bleed the lines, may have air in them.

and next time when the brakes start squealing, change them then before you mess up rotors again.

also you will be lucky if the pistons on the calipers go back in, they may have extended all the way out and wont go back in when you compress them in
