Question Brake pedal making "crunching" noise

When i step on the pedal it makes a noise kind of like there is sand stuck between the pad and roter. Its a kind of grinding crunching noise and the further you press the pedal the worse it seems to get. Any thoughts about what this could be?

I dont think the pads are the issue. The pedal does it when im sitting still also.

It only makes noise as im pressing down on the pedal. When my foot is stopped at any point in the process the noise stops.

I've heard around the block that the break booster would cause it to do such a thing. They were saying it was making a scratchy/creaky noise when pressing on it.

Mine was making a similar noise last week and I took it to the dealer. New rotors, pads and calipers and a whopping $900 bill was the end result. There were no previous signs of trouble and I have the pads checked every oil change/tire rotation by my tire guy. Last checked about 2,000 miles ago and was told they were OK.
