Talking Want to plus size 2 from 16" to 18"

Hi guys. This is my first post since I just joined up today. I own a 2001 F150 Supercrew 4wd, with 255/70R16 tires, stock rims & stock ride height. I am wanting to buy new rims & 285/60-18 tires with a smooth quiet riding tread, not aggressive. I would like to know if anyone can tell me what the correct backspacing is to keep my new tires in under the fenders where the outside edge of my stock tires reside now?
Thanks, I appreciate any help I can get to help me out.

Kenny

A quick search on http://www.rimsntires.com using the shop by car option, they give mostly 5.6 and 5.8 backspace options for direct OE fit.

It's really hard to find a wheel that "sticks out" on the 97-03's. You would basically have to use a 12 inch wide wheel to get the look you are trying to avoid so you don't need to worry. Your OEM wheels are 16x7 with 4.5 inches of BS. A 9 inch wide wheel with 5 inches of BS would stick out 1.5 inches farther and give you a little more aggressive look, but they wouldn't "stick out". If you can find a 9 inch wheel with more than 5 inches of BS you should be very happy.

Thanks for your advice & help. It is very much appreciated!

It makes me feel that much more confident to finally decide on a tire / wheel combo that will give me the look I am after & not worry about getting a wrong offset wheel. Some sites are not too informative on specific back spacing dimensions for wheels I have viewed.

I will definitely make sure I order a wheel with about 5.5"-5.7" back space.

Thanks again & have a great weekend!
