305/65/18's without a lift???

Hey guys-

Im looking at getting a set of Bf At's 305/65/18 for my 2010 Screw cab 4x4. I will eventually get a leveling kit but was wondering if I could get the tires now and wait on the leveling kit or if their would be a lot of rubbing. Im gonna use the factory wheels and I relized the tires might looked a little stuffed until the level gets put in, but if it will work Id sure like to do it. Thanks for any info you have! :beers:

Yes, they should fit but it'll be tight.

not an an 04 to 08. i run that size BFG and i have a 2" Autospring on my 05 and there is only about 1/2 to maybe 3/4 clearance at full lock to the inner fenderwell.

Im curious as to why you want to spend over $1000 on tires but wait for a $69 leveling kit.

Because theirs a rebate on the tires right now. The level kit will have to be ordered, installed and then a allignment done.

i will ass-u-me this was directed to me.

when i bought the kit they were not $69 so they have came down in price.

first of all to me the trucks look just plain stupid with the nose 2+ inches lower than the rear. so with my truck being a daily driver and spending most of its time on road, not off, i only wanted a level stance, not a complete lift. not to mention that a 6" lift does not net you much larger of a tire. The only real way to get large diameter rubber under these trucks is take a sabersaw to the fender openings.

when it came to repace the stock 275's i went as big as i could. the 275's always looked way too small on the truck, some of that was the stock GoodYear model considering that a 285 BFG AT looks way wider but in reality os less tahn a 1/2. what i was really looking for a 35 12.50 in an all terrain, which did not exist when i bought the 305's that was as close as i could come.

Seemed directed towards toddman as he's buying the thousand dollar tires while waiting for the level, but he explained why above. If level is fine for you then roll with it.

Hopefully you would have the alignment done whether or not you had the leveling kit put on. Not to mention you could do the install yourself with basic hand tools in about 2 hours.

I stand by my original opinion. It makes no sense not to go ahead and do the leveling kit now.

To help clarify what GTRider said, regardless of whether your getting a level or not, you need an alignment with new tires. So why not wait a couple weeks until you get another paycheck and get the level and do it all at once instead of paying for 2 alignments...

Never heard of recommending an alignment after new wheels/tires. Who subscribes to this philosophy here? Definitely needed after a level but not just for different wheels/tires.

Spending $1000 on tires and not another $65 to make sure you won't be wearing them out sooner than you should is even more stupid than waiting on a leveling kit.

If you are going to run a larger tire your alignment will have to be tweeked a little to prevent uneven wear.

Good luck finding the BFG AT's in that size. I have been looking since October of last year, BACKORDERED is what I see. Most recently the available date, according to tirerack and discounttire was 05/07/11. That day came and went, now it lists the date as 06/23/11. If you find a place that can get them, let me know. Make sure you verify with whoever you buy from that they can get them because I can't.
