Are P265s and P255s interchangable?
Are P265s and P255s interchangable?
I'm looking at trading in my 2001 F150 with P265/70/R17 tires for a 2009 F150 that has P255/70/R17 tires on it. The tires on the 2009 suck, and I'd really like to keep my 265s from the 2001. Are those tires interchangeable? If so, what are the differences between the two - MPG, traction, other?
They'll fit.
My truck came with 235/70R17's on it, and I'm running 265/70R17's now with 2 inch drop on the rear, and have NO issues at all.
Ford has used a TON of different tire sizes on the 04-current F150's. It's crazy.

255/70/17 Diameter is 31.1"
265/70/17 Diameter is 31.6"
so your speedo will be off 1.8%
They will also be a touch wider (1/2")
IMO, get rid of the stockers, not sure what you have but they are probably junk and put on your 265's. They will look better and from your post they are a much better tire. Loss of MPG will be minimal. I went from 32.1" to 33.2" and I don't even really notice a difference, and even if there was what I gained in performance was worth it.
