anybody have experiance with nitto terra grapplers

Just wondering if anybody has had any experience with nitto terra grapplers tires, was going to order mickey thompsons but they went up 25 bucks a tire! Are the nittos any good as far as aggression wise? Do they wear good? Going to get them in the 285/70R17 that equate to about a 33x12-17 i believe? Thanks Bob

I have that size of Terra grapplers on an 06 with 2 inch as level. They fit with no rub before level but I got tired of the raked look. I am happy with them. They are not very aggressive at all. I spend 95% of my time on pavement. 40 miles per day to work and back. Have about 5k miles on them and they seem to be wearing good. If I could go back I would have paid the extra 20 bucks per tire for the E rated tires instead of the P that I went with. They have 3/16th or so more tread to start with and can handle heavier loads. I have taken them mild off roading and they did well. See profile for pics. Got mine off discounttiredirect.com for a good deal. Best I could find when I was looking in December.

186 vs.199 for the e rated. They may ride a little rougher but not much for the additional tread and load capacity. Click here for size comparison of those. http://www.nittotire.com/functions/t...=terragrappler. Shows tread depth at 16.5 for e and 13.6 for others. The e rated are just a little further down on discounttiredirect.com if u filter by price. I called them with my order and they were able to adjust prices slightly. I ordered wheels and tires, but wasn't going to get certificates but they lowered price for me so I did. Have heard the e rated will get around 60000, but lucky to get 40000 out of the p rated ones. Still kicking myself a bit. That size is like 32.8 by 11.2. The 295/70/17 is 33.2 or something. Go here to compare metric sizes. http://www.1010tires.com/tiresizecalculator.asp

The Nitto Terra Grappler is an excellent tire. Also, just FYI, the Toyo Open Country AT is basically the same tire. Toyo tire manufacturers both tires.

I don't think mine are good enough in the snow. Other than that, I don't have a problem with them. Had them on for only about 5000 miles but seem to wearing great.

What size and load rating are your tires? Just curious.

I have the 285x65x18 E load range on my '09 FX4. With 45k miles I have approximately 1/2" tread depth left. These tires have worn very evenly. I am happy with the tires. They do well in rain and snow. Not very well in mud.

Well i decided to go with a maxis buckshot mudder instead of the nitto grappler, got em for 849 bucks shipped to my door, size is still 285/70R17, hope they are decent and last a while, dont drive the truck all that much seems how the gas is spendy, got the ol 91 geo metro to save gas, good lil cars, it only has 70,000 miles on the ticker, so it should last a bit longer too. The 285/70R17 is as close to the 33x12.5/17 as a person can get isnt it? Thanks Bob

295/70/17 is probably technically closer to 33/12.50 but if u have already ordered them there is no reason to look back now. Minimal difference anyway. Is your truck leveled?
