What type of wheels for winter & summer???
What type of wheels for winter & summer???
I have a '05 supercrew with a 2.5" leveling kit, 33" terra grapplers, and American Racing chrome wheels. I've been lazy and left the wheels on for 3 N.E. Ohio winters without putting anything on them to protect the chrome. Well...they now look like absolute crap, so I need to replace them. What kind of wheels should I buy that can be left on all year? Is a machined or polished wheel better than a chrome or painted wheel?
Thanks!
Thanks!
I'm next door to you and this is the reason that I went back to factory wheels. I went to a set of factory fx4 wheels and would never look back, I love the way they look.
If your dead set on aftermarket wheels get either painter or machined and clear coated. In my experience even the clear coated aftermarket wheels don't holdup as well as factory clear coat. Just keep them washed off and some wax on them is the biggest key for the salt coated roads we have.

That is why I went with black wheels. Non glossy type. Had Chrome on my previous truck and didn't want the upkeep anymore. If u are into black h could get those wheels powdercoated which should hold up better than Chrome.
I like how the FX4 wheels look...but...I have 17" tires and I don't think the FX4 wheels are available in 17". Most of the Ford OEM 17" wheels that I have seen aren't very good looking. Any suggestions? I know I don't want to spend $1,300 on 18" tires and wheels.
