99 xlt max tire size?

Ok so when i bought my 99 xlt 2wd, it had 305/40/22 on it. and i read in a diff thread (not sure where) that that big of a tire shouldnt fit stock suspension... but to my knowledge, there's not a thing done to the suspension, so could someone inform me of the largest tire size that will fit in the 1999 xlt 2wd wheel wells?

edit: aspect ratio >>40 not 70 :P

There is NO way that was the tire that came on it, I am guessing you read the aspect ratio incorrectly.

EDIT: To answer your question though, look into a 305/40/22.

You are about at the limit. A lot of people have fit 285/75-16's and 285/70-17's at stock height. Both of those sizes are approximately 33x11.50 tires while your 305/40-22's are basically a 32x12.50.

285/65/18 = 32.6/11.2/18
285/60/18 = 31.5/11.2/18

based on what youve said, im assuming both of these tires will fit on my truck?
