Question 35 or 37 inch tires on 6" lift?

Hey everybody, Im doing this for one of my buddies. hes got a brand new 2011 f150 xlt and he wants to go with a rough country 6" suspension lift and wants to get either 35 or 37 inch tires on it. hes interested in the nitto trail grapplers with a 20" wheel, but doesnt know what offset or backspace he wants. He wants to have the tires stick out of the wheel well but not too much that he runs into rubbing issues. hopefully you guys can give me some direction. so what offset/backspace is ideal so they stick out with no rubbing? thanks!

Right off the rough country website:

Wheel Backspacing: 4.5" - 5"
Recommended Tire Size: 35x12.50R18
Hope this helps

My son has an 04 with 36x15.5's on it. Not sure the backspacing as we bought the truck wrecked lifted and with the tires and wheels on it. 6" lift not sure of brand, 3" body lift.
So I would probably agree on the 35-36" x 12.5 or 13.5 depending on wheel width.
My 35x12.5 on 16x10's were wider than my 40x13.5's on 20x9's
I will put a pic of his truck in my album. Still have to finish some things on his, but he needs it for work.

There's a few who have 37s on a 6 inch. If he does want to squeeze 37s a 12.5 wide will help but wheel choice will be the biggest concern. With 35s you don't need to regear with 37s its recommended. Also if he decides on 37s an he rubs to bad he can add a inch or two leveling kit to get it high enough to prevent rubbing

If he wants the wheel to stick out some then 37's won't fit. There is a guy with a Zone 6" running 37" Nitto's, but he has a high offset wheel that sticks inside the fender well. I would not recommend running that high offset of a wheel. It'll look pretty bad.

I have a 2010 F150 XLT 4x4, with a 6 inch lift, Nitto Terra Grapplers (305 55 20) on 20" Moto Metal 951's. Everything fits perfectly. The tire stick out about 1.5 - 2" past the fender. No rubbing. I am thinking about selling them (tires and wheels), to go back to stock. The wife doesn't like it.

It can be done with a 6" lift and a leveling kit, but I wouldn't do it with a rough country lift. As stated above, they have to have 4.5-5" of backspace, which will push the tire out of the wheel well more, but will cause rubbing. If he chose a different lift that he could use a higher backspace with, like 5.5-6", then he could put 37s on.

I have a procomp 6 inch lift and I had to get wheels that had -12 backspacing so they wouldn't rub on my tie rods. They also make my 35x12.5x17 stick out and makes it look mean.
