New Member here , been lurking long time !! Tire Question

As title says, 2008 FX2 Screw ! Warranty is running out in a few months so all is fair game in mods for this truck . First thing is I just want to get some rubber on the pavement . Wanting to know what is the widest size I can get on the 18" factory rims while keeping the same height , don't want to mess with speedo gears yet ? This is going to be a nice cruiser , not going to slam it but maybe a 2"-3" drop in a year or so ! Going to drop the rear to level off truck for now . Will a 295/305 50R18 work without rubbing ? Any help greatly appreciated ! Thanks

Yes, they would fit easily. But if you're going with a street look, I'd go with some 22 inch wheels at the smallest and a 305/40-22.

Not sure what size rim I will eventually go with , was just curious if these tires would fit . They are being replaced via B.F. Goodrich (warranty issues) and just thought I would maximize the footprint and widen the tire a bit ! How much extra width will this give me roughly ? Saving the cash for now as there are a few things I want to address elsewhere before going to the rims !

I would be shocked if BFG would give you a different size tire as a warranty replacement.

Already talked to a local dealer , he's going to use the adjustment from BFG on a set of my liking !!

What size tire are you currently running? For a width conversion, just divide the first number (295/305/etc) which is the tire width in mm by 25.4. This will convert mm to inches. So a 305 is a 12" wide tire.

Easier yet is to use the metric system. The first number is the width of the tire in millimeters. Just subtract the first number of your OEM tires from the first number of the new tires and it will give you the difference in millimeters. Of course this only works if both sizes are metric.

Width wise try to stay no more than 12.50", ideally you want to be 12" or less. Also, I would be hesitant to get that wide if you are end up running a lower profile tire, if you go that route I would go down another inch or so.
