Smile EBC brakes

What are you go fast guys doing to slow down your trucks? I found a set of EBC rotors and pads for around $640(dimpled and slotted rotors and yellow pads).

I've looked over the EBC pad lineup a good bit, so keep in mind each color has a very specific, tailored application. It's just the nature of their business/marketing.

With that said, and with the lack of detail you've given on your truck and driving habits, I'm gonna jump the gun and say no to the yellow. For a truck, it's hard to beat the GreenStuff 7000's. Great pad, super quiet, solid feel, and literally ZERO dust.

Just looking over the pad, it's a phenomenal braking pad, but it requires some heat in it (so it wont be a stellar brake'r straight out the garage when it's 40* outside), and it will generate a pretty fair amount of dust.

Stay tuned...you'll get all the guys telling you to get the Wagner ThermoQuiets and be done with it! We'll see, as I myself have fell under the peer pressure and getting ready to try a set, but they better put on a helluva show because I'm a 7000 fan. They rock and will be hard to follow!

I have the EBC drilled and slotted fronts along with the greenstuff 7000's. Ive had them on for about 4 months now and i would say they are totally worth the money. NO dust and great stopping performance. I got them from Summit for about $400 for fronts.

I`ve been running EBC`s green 7000`s for about a year W/drilled and slotted rotors and have to say they are the best I have ever used, no BS.
As for the Thermo Quiets, I tried them last year because of all of the hype here. They lasted less than 4 months. My opinion, they are junk,
period.

EBC`s, They stop the truck on a dime! Love`em!

Well, as much of an EBC fan as I am I'll have to say that's the first time I've ever heard that about them. I think I'm gonna take the position that it wasn't completely the brakes fault.

I am also seeking some feedback on these brakes. Pretty sure I will need the yellow pads for the times I go to the track.

But you're a dragstrip guy right twinskrewd? IMHO, I don't think the yellows would fair much better for you than a regular pad. The yellows require a little bit of heat in them and hauling *** for 1/4 mile then jamming on the brakes doesn't really accomplish that. On the surface it sounds like that would do the job and warm them up fast, but it doesn't work that way. The heat needs to already be there before you need them. I'm not saying they wouldn't do the job as it's not like some full blown race pad, jsut a consideration. May not ever notice the difference depending on your braking techniques. If it's a street truck, I don't think the dust from the yellows will offset any difference you may notice in braking capability. If you were doing road course, that's a whole different story.

On my race bike (that I put back together for the street from time to time), my brakes are borderline scary in the mornings on even comfortable temp days until I drive several miles and use the brakes. After that...

I just put on EBC Slotted rotors and Yellowstuff pads and they feel great on the first stop. I haven't noticed that they need any kind of warm up to grip.

I was wondering about those Yellows myself 'cause EBC says that they're terrific for light trucks that do a lot of towing. That, obviously, would have been very attractive to a guy (like me) who tows a travel trailer and is concered about the safety of his family... If I'd have listened to what the EBC people say on their website... well... I shudder to think what would happen with a 7,000lb trailer behind my truck and a set of Yellow Stuff brakes, cold from an hour on the highway - if I needed to make a sudden stop!

As a Senior Member of this forum, your advice will be pivotal to myself and plenty of other people who would otherwise have considered the EBC Yellow Stuff brake pads as a perfect upgrade for our trucks. Thanks for setting the record straight!

FYI EBC's Website makes the following statements:

Because of its huge heat range , the applications where EBC Yellowstuff will deliver benefits range from fastest street use on higher horsepower sedans to Trackday and Race use on most street based cars and even as a brake upgrade on Trucks and SUV. Yellowstuff is especially appreciated on Trucks for towing and heavy loads and where wheel and tire oversize upgrades have been fitted.

Yellowstuff is NOT rated as low dust and creates similar dust to OEM pads, if low dust is what you seek, Redstuff should be your choice for fast street use.

USA Light Truck Drivers love it because...
Normally race pads require warm up....but NOT the EBC Yellowstuff. This compound works well from cold and is therefore a perfect solution if you simply want the best stopping power you can get for street use on a truck or SUV where the brakes are “Marginal” from the factory or you have enhanced your ride with oversize wheels tyres or raised suspension, all of which place much higher demands on the brakes.

Drivers with Trailers love it because...
Towing brings extra loads and that mushy feel of many stock or low friction aftermarket pads does not inspire confidence. EBC Yellowstuff gives you as much bite as you can get from a stock system and in most cases will give a noticeable brake improvement under loads of towing.

Hello Andy,

I hope you don’t mind me using the link you posted at f150online.com to contact you. I am looking hard at EBC brakes as an upgrade for my truck. Btw my name is Jason. I have a 2007 Ford F150 XLT 5.4 Flex 2wd. The truck is highly modified with a supercharger and other goodies and its turning out 450rwhp. It weighs 5600lbs and when I drag race I get it down to 5300lbs. My tires are 305-50-20's. In the quarter mile I see trap speeds of 106mph and may see 110mph by this summer.

My brakes are stock and that of course has to change. Which pads and rotors do you recommend? I only race 3-5 times a year so street performance is most important. The stock brakes do well but they get hot and the rotors warped the first time down the strip. I want to avoid this warpage. Any help would be appreciated. Right now I’m looking at these part numbers. Please give me your thoughts. Are these right for me? Also do you sale these? If so how much? Thank you!

Rear:

DP41697R

The yellow pads you list here are good for this truck but in Drag Racing you would need to really bed these in well on the street first, they take 400-600 miles urban use to cure fully on the surface.

We are starting to heat scorch these soon but the inventory in the USA is certainly not all scorched at this time so street bed in is your only option

Drag Racing is a tough ASK

I don’t know if these will hold up.

They WILL be miles better in heavy street use than OE and they ARE a race pad so wont fade but you MUST bed them in properly.

If they don’t you will need to look at $3000 worth of oversize rotors and new calipers from someone like Stoptech to achieve what you want.

You can buy our products from

www.perfectbrakes.com

They are a reliable vendor

Thanks for the enquiry
